How can I restore an old saddle?

We inherited an old saddle from a relative who ped away. It does not look it too bad of shape, but we don't know anything about saddles. It was an old rodeo saddle that was used 40 plus years ago. The seat part of the saddle is suede and the leather on the back has the last name of the family in it. We want to clean it without damaging anything so we can have it out on display in the house. Does anyone have any good suggestions.
