Christians: Do you believe hell is eternal torture in fire or simply the grave?

I think "hell" is maybe the fact that we will get our eyes opened and our conscience will feel every wrong deed that we made in our life.So maybe hell could be suffering. It's like if you killed someone, your conscience will torture you with those thoughts. That sounds painful but that's my idea of Hell.
